Egg incubator plans
Make your own breakfast, lunch and dinner by breeding chickens or other fowl with these egg incubator woodworking plans.
Eating genetically altered and steriod soaked birds from the fast foot restaurant or grocery store is hazardous to your health! Now make your own fresh farm eggs and organically-grown meats and save.
And with your own backyard chicken farm, you can set up a homebased "farmers market" business and are all set in case of economic disasters and food shortages.
2 JUMBO HATCH INCUBATOR PLANS INCLUDED
Design #1: Designed with 4 trays: 800 quail, 470 pheasant, 360 bantam and 240 turkey, duck or jumbo chicken eggs. The bottom tray can be left out for a brooder. Size was determined by computer, optimizing one sheet of 4 x 8, half-inch plywood. Not a single inch of the sheet is wasted. Construction is simple if the plywood is cut square at the start.
At 8-9 cents per KWH the cost of a hatch of 21 days is about $10-12. The rack material with ¼ x ¼ galvanized hardware cloth and can be formed neatly with 2-2 x 4s, a clamp and a mallet.
The egg turner system is very simple and cheap (see below). It has a water gauge which operates like a Piper J-3 gas gauge. The entire cabinet can be built at home with simple tools for less than $125 if you’re frugal, but certainly not more than $175.
Design #2: Professional size incubator with 1000 egg capacity.
AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC EGG TURNER
Temperature is controlled by a modified 250 watt aquarium heater and 4 incandescent light bulbs or a toaster wire filament. Traditional wafer thermostats can be used.
Principal of operation: The egg turner uses an inexpensive, surplus 12 volt, direct current motor. A direct current motor changes direction of rotation if the electrical leads are reversed. The control is by way of an inexpensive irrigation sprinkler timer using Stations 1 and 2. The hookup to station 1 is plus wire (hot) to terminal 1screw and the ground wire to the common screw. Station 2 is reversed, with the hot wire going to the common screw and the ground wire going to the terminal 2 screw.
Set timer to energize Station 1 for 1 (one) minute. Set timer to energize Station 2 for 1 (one) minute. Set Station 1 to operate 2 times a day, 12:00 noon and 12:00 midnight. Set Station 2 to operate 2 times a day at 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Adjust the spring screw to insure that the trays operate, but not so tight as to stop the motor at the end of the stroke. The plywood disks operate as clutch and pressure plate and will slip for the remainder of the one minute after the turner has cycled. This repeats every 6 hours or more often if more stations are used.
Parts are noted with part numbers and suppliers’ where applicable. Drawings are adequate, computer generated, and easy to read with drawings in inches and various isometric illustrations.
This detailed set of cad assembly drawings for building 2 egg incubators is printed in black and white on roll paper and includes 17 pages printed on (6) 24" x 36" sheets.
